Capt. Kevin Grainger
Captain Kevin Grainger grew up in East Central Florida and spent his youth fishing the Indian River Lagoon. At 13, he got his first boat. The freedom of having a boat at a young age quickly led him to a love for tarpon, redfish, snook, and seatrout. It didn’t take long for the fly rod to pique his interest. During his senior year of high school, he started working and learning to tie flies at Harry Goodes Outfitters in Melbourne. After graduation, he moved to Southwest Florida to attend Florida Gulf Coast University and work at 239 Flies in Bonita Springs, where he still works today when he’s not on the water. It’s no coincidence that his decision to attend Florida Gulf Coast University had a great deal to do with the world class fishing in the surrounding areas. In November of 2023, he received the inaugural Captains for Clean Water Next Generation Stewardship Award. He is a staunch supporter of conservation and ensuring that our resources are made better for future generations.
